Why wear natural fibres?
Natural fibres offer the wearer many benefits. One of our favourite attributes of natural fibre clothing is the natural temperature regulation they provide all year around. With intimate apparel being the closest thing against your skin, the fabrics of your undies, bras and singlets determine how comfortable you feel on a day-to-day basis.
We’ve chosen cotton and bamboo for our natural fibre range because they both boast a range of benefits that make them some of the best resources on the planet.
Cotton has a wealth of natural properties that have kept it the number one fabric worn by humans for thousands of years. Cotton is naturally absorbent, insulating, hygienic and durable. It’s also extremely soft and comfortable to wear. Being a natural resource, cotton doesn’t irritate the skin the way some synthetic fabrics can.
Cotton fabric blends trap air between the fibres, which creates thermal insulation. This keeps the wearer cool in summer, and warm in winter, as well as creating air ventilation between the fabric and the skin. Cotton is one of our favourite fabrics as it can be worn all year round.
Bamboo is making big waves in the fashion industry as a fabric thats incredibly sustainable as well as easy to wear. When it comes to choosing eco-friendly fabrics, you can’t beat bamboo. Bamboo is friendly to the environment for a number of reasons: it’s shoots grow to full maturity in 45-60 days, it requires no pesticides and very little water to grow, and it is harvested without the use of destructive machinery. It's also beneficial for the land it grows in, as it restores damaged land, purifies the air it grows in, and also protects the land around it from soil erosion.
On top of being one of the most sustainable resources around, bamboo is also naturally anti-bacterial, odour resistant, and hypoallergenic. It’s perfect for summer and transitional seasons, as it creates a natural cooling effect by drawing moisture away from the skin. Bamboo also boasts a natural lustre which visually sets it apart from other fabrications. It’s also incredibly soft and comfortable to wear, with wearers noting it’s almost “silky” feel against the skin.
